Your man from Philly went down to the Shore yesterday to spend a night in a historic B&B in Ocean City, NJ with his better half. Bulldozers and dredges were working 24 hours a day, lit by stadium lights. The resurrection of the beaches will likely be complete by Memorial Day. Through Hurricanes and Nor’easters, the Jersey shore has always managed to come back. Sandy couldn’t deliver the knockout punch. She’s gotten up before the ten count. The resilience of her people is amazing!

I’m silently saying a prayer for the loved ones of those who were victims of a truly horrendous tornado that hit Moore, Oklahoma yesterday. To the people of Moore, I know many hearts are with you. Most of us have no idea of the heartbreak and anguish you must be going through.

    • Hi Doug,

The Jersey shore beaches were basically sucked out to sea when Hurricane Sandy struck ( as we’re other large parts of the Atlantic Coast), and they were using dredges and bulldozers to build back up the beaches and the protective sand dunes. The difference between an oil spill and this situation is that there was not a pool of toxic oil continuously washing ashore, but a one two knockout punch caused by Hurricane Sandy. A lot of lives were lost from Cuba through New England (and even in to the Midwest) and billions in property damage occurred. A friend of mine who lives across the river from New York had his street turned into a river by the storm, and almost lost his house.
